This new build with a 170m² foot print, incorporates two separate cottages. The exteriors are clad in traditional board & batten, (colour Akoroa), and completed with long run roofing (colour IronSand).
Shutters are a great solution for concealing internal aluminium joinery, especially if you want to create a more robust appearance to the windows. They are a great alternative to wooden blinds.
The bedroom window is double dressed; a sunscreen blind behind a roman blind in (design Arak, colour Pepper) to ensure privacy during the day. The vintage chair has been transformed when reupholstered using a previously sourced remnant.
The bathroom features mosaic tiles in Hokey Pokey, Listello, that catch the light from the window above.

Marguerite was immensely helpful to us with a recent build of two board and batten cottages on our country property.
Marguerite inspired me on a walk around a suburban neighbourhood by helping me to look for things that looked right and wrong eg. window levels, placement and framing, materials used etc. I felt empowered by this knowledge to make important building design decisions.
Another positive experience with Marguerite was choosing a gorgeous fabric to cover a favourite chair then using this as a pivoting colour style choice for the rest of the room – wallpaper, paint, curtain fabric etc.
After each meeting held Marguerite emailed us a written copy of things discussed and decisions to make based on these using samples provided.
We love our cottages. The colours, the tiles, the fabrics and the general ambience all achieved with Marguerite’s guidance.
We would highly recommend using Marguerite’s services for design and decorating assistanceGayle Avery & Greg Whitham
