One of the first hemp houses to be built in New Zealand is located on a lifestyle block on the outskirts of New Plymouth. The 320 square metre home is clad in industrial hemp, one of many sustainable features of this build. The welcoming entrance with polished aggregate and underfloor heating also has a double glazed glass ceiling and magnificent rock wall.

Robust features of the house are the custom made, European designed cedar windows and doors.

The main bedroom pendant light is hand forged and offsets the racked ceiling. The locally manufactured velvet, buttoned headboard, linen roman blinds and curtains add layers of texture to this restful space.

The beautifully crafted kitchen using perforated aluminium mesh inserted into the foil wrapped joinery, 40mm caesar stone and Rimex linen stainless steel bench tops, off set the solid oak island to create a functional working space.

The western wing has three spacious bedrooms. The room below opens onto the garden capturing the afternoon sun. The colour palette for this wing is green based, with a hint of grey and is graduated throughout the rooms.

Marguerite has a flair for proportions and placement that I really appreciate.
She negotiated between tradespeople involved in the build and helped us to make some really good choices to achieve our desired look and feel!
I will continue to recommend Marguerite to anyone needing Interior or exterior styling assistance.
